# Choose your operating market

> Choose Great Britain or Germany so Tapp applies the correct signup and tax context.

Select the market in which the business operates. Tapp uses this choice to continue through the correct onboarding and billing path.

## Who can do this?

Only the **Owner** completing signup chooses the operating market. This is a business-level setup decision, not a preference that Staff or Managers set for themselves.

## Where to do it

During owner signup, complete email and phone verification. The final signup screen is **Select market**.

## Choose the market

1. Open the market selector.
2. Choose **Great Britain** for a GB business or **Germany** for a German business.
3. Check the selection before continuing.
4. Select **Continue**.

For a GB selection, Tapp refreshes the authenticated session and enters the Management Admin App. For a German selection, Tapp opens the required platform billing step first.

The page can preselect a market from signup state or use the product default. Always inspect the displayed choice before continuing. The submitted market is copied into onboarding context; changing the interface language later does not rewrite that business decision.

## Why the selection matters

The market is used throughout the product for localized currency, dates, tax labels and market-specific workflows. Menu VAT choices are also loaded for the store's market. Do not select a market only to change the interface language: language and operating market are separate concepts.

## Platform notes

Market selection is completed in the Management Admin App on the web. Management mobile, POS and guest experiences consume the shop and business configuration created by onboarding; they do not present this owner signup decision themselves.

## Market notes

Choose GB only for a business operating in Great Britain and DE only for a German operation. DE routes to required platform billing; GB refreshes the session and enters the app. This choice also scopes later VAT references and formatting, while language can be changed separately.

## Troubleshooting

If continuing from the GB selection cannot refresh the session, the app shows a signup error and does not pretend setup is complete. Retry after checking the connection. German owners who leave the billing step can resume it; access remains gated until billing is active.
