# Configure tips and ratings

> Allow or suppress tip and rating prompts in the shop checkout experience.

Checkout settings let an Owner decide whether the shop allows tips and ratings. Each switch changes whether the corresponding interaction is available in checkout flows that consume these settings.

## Who can do this?

Owners can use this workflow with the scope described here. Write access is checked for the currently selected shop. Backend authorization is authoritative; entering a route directly does not expand a role.

## Where

Open **Settings** for the correct shop and find the **Checkout** section with **Allow tips** and **Allow ratings**.

## Steps

1. Review whether tips and ratings are currently enabled.
2. Toggle **Allow tips** according to the shop’s operational policy.
3. Toggle **Allow ratings** according to whether post-checkout feedback should be collected.
4. Select **Save changes** and wait until the update completes.
5. Run a representative checkout on each relevant platform to confirm the prompts appear or disappear as intended.

## Platform notes

The switches are shop-level settings exposed by the web Admin App and persisted together with the other main settings. They permit the feature; they do not create a tip, rating, payout, or staff score themselves. Reporting reflects actual completed customer interactions, not merely whether a switch is enabled.

## Market notes

The two controls are available for GB and DE, but the legal, tax, employment, and payout treatment of tips can depend on the business. This article describes the product switch only and is not tax or legal guidance.

## Troubleshooting

If a prompt still appears after disabling it, confirm the checkout belongs to the same shop and refresh cached product data. If a prompt is absent after enabling it, check the specific checkout surface and its other prerequisites. Report persistent mismatches with platform, shop, and order context.

Use a new checkout when testing because an already-open flow may still hold the settings it loaded earlier.
