# Request an offered shift

> Ask to take a teammate's offered shift in the mobile app, or withdraw your request before a decision.

Use open shifts to ask to take a shift that a teammate has offered. Sending a request does not put you on the schedule immediately. An Owner or Manager must approve it first.

## Who can do this?

Staff, Owners and Managers can use the personal work area to request an eligible offered shift in their shop. Owners and Managers decide whether to approve the request. You cannot request your own offer or take a shift that overlaps another shift you already have.

## Where to do it

In the mobile app, open **Work** and find **Open shifts**. Choose **View all** for the full list. You can also open **Schedule** and choose the **Open shifts** tab.

Owners and Managers can choose **Work → My work** from the home screen to reach their personal work area, then use **Open shifts**. Choose **My work** when requesting a shift for yourself; team request reviews are separate.

## Request a shift

1. Find the offered shift and read the date, hours, work role and person offering it.
2. Choose **Claim**. Review the shift shown in the confirmation sheet.
3. Select **Claim this shift** to send the request to an Owner or Manager.
4. Wait for a decision. While the request is pending, the offer lets you choose **Unclaim** to withdraw it.
5. After approval, check **Schedule** and **My schedule** to confirm the shift is assigned to you before treating it as yours.

You must have the required work role for the offered place. An offer appearing in the list does not guarantee that your request can be accepted: eligibility is checked when you request it and again at approval.

## Withdraw a pending request

Return to the offer, select **Unclaim**, then confirm **Unclaim** in the sheet. This removes your pending request. It does not remove a shift that has already been approved and assigned to you. If your plans change after approval, speak to your Owner or Manager about the assigned shift.

## Platform notes

These steps describe the personal work area in the mobile app. Managers review requests separately. The person offering the shift remains assigned until an approval transfers it. If several people request the same offered place, approving one request rejects the others.

## Market notes

The request flow applies in Great Britain and Germany. Read the offered date and hours carefully, especially for an overnight shift or if you are away from the shop's time zone. Check the confirmed schedule rather than relying on the time when you sent the request.

## Troubleshooting

* If you cannot request a shift, check whether it is still available, whether you already requested it, whether you have the required work role and whether another shift overlaps.
* If **Claim** appears again after you sent a request, refresh before trying again. A missing **Unclaim** button does not prove your request disappeared. If Tapp says you already requested the shift, ask your Owner or Manager to check its status.
* If the person or work role shown is unclear, confirm those details before requesting the shift.
* If a request was rejected, do not assume you can submit another request for the same offer. Speak to your Owner or Manager if you think the decision needs review.
* If withdrawal fails, refresh the list: a decision may already have been made. Check your schedule before assuming the request was removed.
* If the list shows a loading error, try refreshing it. A failed load does not mean there are no open shifts. Contact Tapp support if the problem continues.
