# Request time off

> Send a time-off request from the mobile app and change its dates or note while it is pending.

Send a time-off request so your Owner or Manager can review the dates you want to be away. Submitting a request does not approve it or remove your scheduled shifts.

## Who can do this?

Staff can submit and edit their own pending requests in the personal work area. An Owner or Manager decides whether to approve them.

## Where to do it

In the mobile app, open **Work**, then choose **Time off**. The list shows your pending, confirmed and rejected requests.

## Send a request

1. Select **Ask time off**.
2. Choose the start date and end date in the calendar. The fields above only display your selection; you cannot type dates into them. Both dates are included. For one day off, use the same date for both.
3. Review both fields after selecting dates. Choosing an earlier end date swaps the range. Once both dates are set, the next calendar tap starts a new range; select its end date too.
4. Add an optional note of up to 500 characters to help your manager understand the request.
5. Select **Submit request** and wait for **Submitted**.
6. Return to the list and check that the dates are correct and the request is pending.

The calendar starts each week on Sunday. Faded dates belong to another month and cannot be selected here. Use the month arrows to reach them. You can choose a start in one month, move to another month and choose the end.

You cannot submit overlapping dates when you already have a pending or approved request for that period in the same shop. Review your existing requests before creating another one.

## Change a pending request

Open the request from the list, adjust the dates or note, then select **Submit request** again. Wait for the update confirmation and reopen the request to check the saved details. This updates the existing request; it does not create a second one.

Once the request has been decided, you can open its details but cannot edit them in this screen. There is no cancellation button in this personal time-off flow. If you no longer need the dates, speak to your Owner or Manager rather than submitting a duplicate request.

## Check the decision

A **Confirmed** request has been approved; a **Rejected** request has been declined. While it is **Pending**, keep checking your schedule and do not assume the time off is agreed.

After approval, review your assigned shifts with your Owner or Manager, especially around overnight work at the edges of the requested dates. Approval can remove affected assignments, but you should confirm the resulting schedule.

## Platform notes

These steps describe the personal work area in the mobile app. The manager's web app uses **Time off** to review requests. In German, the mobile app calls this area **Freizeit**, while the web app uses **Urlaub**.

## Market notes

The request uses calendar dates in both Great Britain and Germany. Check the selected shop and every requested date before submitting. The number of days shown is not the number of shifts you would have worked.

## Troubleshooting

* If submission fails because dates overlap, inspect the existing request and edit it if it is still pending.
* If an update fails, refresh the list: a manager may have decided the request while you were editing it.
* After a connection error, check whether the request already exists before sending it again.
* If requests fail to load, pull down to refresh. Contact Tapp support if the problem continues.
