The room-layout editor creates the spatial floor map used to visualize a room. It stores the room grid and rectilinear outline plus each table’s position, footprint, shape, and rotation.

Who can do this?

Owners and Managers can use the described parts. Only Owners and Managers have configuration write access; Staff access remains read-only or operational. API authorization is authoritative.

Where

Open Settings → Rooms & tables and choose Edit layout in a room header or overflow menu. Only tables assigned to that room are available in its tray.

Steps

  1. Adjust the grid and room outline, keeping a valid rectilinear shape within the supported bounds.
  2. Drag unplaced tables from the tray onto valid grid cells. Placed tables cannot overlap or extend outside the room.
  3. Select a table to adjust its footprint, rectangular or round shape, and 0°/90° rotation; drag it back to the tray to remove its placement.
  4. Resolve any stranded table created by shrinking the room or grid.
  5. Choose Save layout. Leaving with unsaved changes triggers a confirmation.

Platform notes

All edits stay local until one full-replacement save sends the room geometry and complete placement list. Omitted tables or tables with null layout become unplaced. The API checks shop and room membership together with the grid bounds in a single operation; the browser additionally enforces polygon containment and collision rules.

Market notes

The editor behaves the same for GB and DE and uses localized labels only. It does not calculate accessibility clearance, fire-code capacity, or other regulatory requirements; the merchant must design the actual venue appropriately.

Troubleshooting

An invalid drop animates back when it overlaps another footprint or leaves the shape. If Save is blocked, inspect stranded tables and room validity. A missing room or insufficient-role notice means return to Rooms & tables and verify shop, room, and Owner/Manager membership.
