Effective opening hours are the final schedule for a specific date after Tapp resolves the regular plan, holidays, schedule type, and special exceptions. They can differ from the weekday row you first see.

Who can do this?

Owners and Managers can use this workflow. Permission is always evaluated for the selected shop. A role without write access cannot bypass the restriction by opening a route directly; API authorization remains authoritative.

Where

Review regular and special hours on Shop overview. The current Admin page edits the source schedules; it does not place the unused effective-hours preview component on that route, so verify the inputs that produce the result.

Steps

  1. Start with the requested date and determine whether Venue or Kitchen hours are needed.
  2. Tapp checks whether the date is a national holiday for the shop; otherwise it uses the weekday.
  3. It looks for a dated exception covering the date. A matching exception replaces the regular row.
  4. For Kitchen, a configured kitchen plan is used. Without one, venue regular hours are inherited; a kitchen exception can still override inherited hours.
  5. Closed status and all periods from the winning source become the effective result.

Platform notes

The API calculates effective rows in the shop timezone and includes whether an exception supplied the result. Schedule writes invalidate effective-hours caches for affected ranges. Consumers should use the resolved result rather than recreating precedence from labels in the browser.

Market notes

Holiday calendars are based on the shop’s configured country and subdivision, with an observed-holiday calendar. This makes GB and DE results legitimately different on local holidays even though the article and category structure are shared.

Troubleshooting

When a date is unexpected, check the shop, timezone, requested schedule type, holiday country, regular weekday or holiday row, and every exception covering that date. Kitchen results often look surprising when no kitchen weekly plan exists because venue hours are then inherited.
