Who can do this?
Owners and Managers can manage tipping for the selected shop. Staff cannot save these shop settings.Where to do it
In the mobile app, open Shop and choose Tipping in settings. Check the selected shop first.Enable the prompt
- Check Allow guest tips. Changing this switch saves immediately, separately from the other settings on the page. Wait for it to finish before continuing.
- Turn Ask guests on POS devices on if you want a tip prompt during supported checkout flows.
- Read any notice saying Tapp has temporarily turned prompts off. Your settings can remain saved while prompts are unavailable.
- Check the device’s tipping preference as well. A shop-level setting does not override a device that has opted out.
Choose suggested amounts
Under Suggested amounts, choose Percentage or Amount. If you change the type, read and confirm Replace presets. This replaces the current suggestions with defaults in your unsaved changes. Review and edit those defaults before saving. Open Presets and keep between one and five distinct suggestions. For percentages, enter whole numbers from 1 to 100. For fixed amounts, enter more than zero and no more than 10,000 in the shop’s currency. These are allowed input ranges, not recommended tip amounts; choose amounts appropriate for your customers. Use Add preset or Remove preset as needed. Check every displayed value, especially after switching between percentage and fixed amounts. Tap the checkmark (Done) to apply the list to the settings page. Closing or swiping away the presets panel discards its edits; you still need Save changes on the main page. An existing fractional percentage stays unchanged if you leave its field untouched. If you edit that field, enter a whole percentage. Correct duplicate or invalid values before choosing Done. If existing settings mix percentages and fixed amounts, the page shows those saved choices. Other setting changes preserve them. Choose one type only when you intend to replace the mixed suggestions.Rounding and custom amounts
Use Round to to choose No rounding or one of the displayed currency increments. Rounding applies to tips calculated from percentages, not fixed suggestions, and does not raise the tip above the order total. Turn Allow custom amount on or off to control whether guests can enter their own amount. No tip remains available either way. Review any unsaved tip-sharing changes on the same page too: Save changes saves them together. Wait for completion before editing again, then reopen the page to verify your choices. Check a freshly opened checkout on the intended device before relying on the new prompt.Platform notes
These steps describe the mobile app. In the web app, open Tipping from the side menu. Choose Add suggestion, enter a value and confirm with Enter or the checkmark. Confirmed entries appear in sorted order; duplicates are ignored and the last suggestion cannot be removed. Cancel beside the input discards only that pending entry. There is no Done panel: use Save changes. Changing type still requires confirmation. The allow-tips switch, shop prompt and device preference are separate. The flow applies in Great Britain and Germany. Fixed amounts and rounding use the shop’s currency. Check the currency when managing several shops.Troubleshooting
- If saving is unavailable, check the number and validity of suggestions and any required sharing selections.
- If settings cannot load, retry before editing. Do not treat missing values as the shop’s saved choices.
- After an error, reopen the page and check the main switch and remaining settings separately. Contact Tapp support if the saved state or prompt remains unclear.
