Check staffing and attendance before deleting a shift.

Who can do this?

Owners and Managers can review and change their shop’s schedule.

Where to do it

In the web app, select the shop and open Shifts.

Review the calendar and change hours

Use Day, Week, Month, the arrows and Today to find a date. Weeks start on Sunday. Day and week views initially show around 08:00; scroll for other times. Open a shift to inspect people and hours. In Month, select a day or its additional-shifts count for the full day list. Cards show hours, staffing and people; the pencil edits and the bin requests deletion. The + beside a date opens a new-shift form. Faded adjacent-month dates remain usable; check before adding. Overnight shifts appear under their start date in the month list and across both dates in day/week grids. These blocks belong to one shift. A + beside initials counts additional assigned people. Drag an empty grid area to prepare a new shift; review and save the form. Drag an existing shift’s start or end edge to save revised hours directly. Wait for success and reopen to check. Resizing keeps assignments and does not correct attendance. You can focus either resize control and use up/down arrow keys for 30-minute changes. Each accepted step saves immediately; wait before another change. If a resize is interrupted, reopen the shift and check its hours: interruption can still save the change. Overlaps with an assigned person’s other shift can be rejected. Check saved hours after errors before retrying. Web labels Morning shift, Afternoon shift and Evening shift follow the start time, not a custom name or attendance status. Check the exact hours.

Delete a shift

In the web app, open the shift details, select delete and read the confirmation. Choose Delete shift to remove the whole shift. This cannot be undone in either app. Deletion removes the shift, its staff assignments and related offers and requests to take the shift. It does not transfer those people to another shift. Check the remaining schedule and arrange any replacement work separately. Recorded attendance is retained, but loses its link to the deleted shift. Deleting a shift does not check anyone out or correct their hours. If someone has started or completed work, review their attendance before deleting anything and use attendance correction for inaccurate times. Contact Tapp support if a remaining check-in cannot be managed after deletion. Creating a new shift with the same date and hours does not restore the deleted assignments, offers or requests, or reconnect the retained attendance. Review staffing and attendance separately if you need to rebuild the schedule. After a deletion error, refresh the calendar and check whether the shift still exists before repeating the action.

Platform notes

In the mobile app, open Work → Schedule, find the date and tap a shift. The manager’s week starts on Monday. Review Shift time, Assigned staff, Duration and Roles. Mobile schedule cards round durations to whole minutes. The staffing count measures assignments, not attendance. Roles beneath a person’s name describe their work roles generally; check Roles for this shift’s requirements. Choose Modify shift to open the editor, or Delete shift and then Delete in the confirmation. Cancel keeps the shift. After successful deletion, the details close and the schedule refreshes. Check attendance separately before deleting. Staff use their personal schedule; this manager deletion flow is unavailable to them.

Market notes

The flow applies in Great Britain and Germany. Check the shop and date before making changes.

Troubleshooting

If a shift is missing, check its start date and whether it is still an unpublished draft. Missing details can reflect loading problems. The web day list falls back to assigned names when attendance is unavailable. Mobile No one assigned yet can also appear after a failed lookup. Close, refresh and reopen before acting on an unexpected empty list. Check team attendance separately; contact Tapp support if unclear.
