An unallocated tip has been collected but has no assigned recipients. Owners and Managers can distribute its full amount between eligible team members. This records who receives each share; it does not pay money into their accounts or confirm a cash handover.

Who can do this?

Owners and Managers can view and assign unallocated tips for their shop. Staff cannot view the unallocated list or assign tips.

Where to do it

In the mobile app, open Team and find Unallocated tips. In the web app, open the staff page and find Unallocated tips. Check the selected shop before proceeding. On the mobile Team page, pull down to refresh the team, shops and unallocated tips. Wait for the tips to finish refreshing before choosing an order.

Find the tip

  1. Choose a reporting period that includes when the tip was collected.
  2. In the mobile app, expand Unallocated tips to see the orders.
  3. Check the order number and full tip amount.
  4. Choose Assign tips in the mobile app or Assign in the web app.
An empty list only describes the selected period. It does not prove that there are no older unallocated tips. Both apps offer the last 7, 30, 90 or 365 days. The mobile list starts with 7 days and the web list with 30 days. Select the same period before comparing lists.

Enter the shares

  1. Identify each intended recipient by name and, when shown, contact details.
  2. Enter a positive amount beside each person receiving a share. Leave other people’s fields blank.
  3. Use amounts with no more than two decimal places. Either a decimal point or comma is accepted; do not enter a currency symbol or thousands separator.
  4. Make the shares add up to the complete tip. In the mobile app, check Assigned against the total. In the web app, Remaining must reach zero.
  5. Review the order, recipients and amounts, then choose Assign tips or Assign. This saves the assignment immediately without another confirmation step.
  6. Wait for completion and refresh the list. A successfully assigned tip leaves the unallocated list.
For example, a tip of 10.00 can be assigned as 6.00 to one person and 4.00 to another. You cannot assign only part of it and leave the rest for later.

Who appears as a recipient?

The list includes eligible active team members who have completed account setup in this shop. Owners appear only when the shop’s tipping policy permits them to receive shares. Manual assignment does not require a current check-in or one of the work roles selected for automatic sharing. Use your team’s agreed tipping policy when choosing recipients. Do not change that policy merely to make someone appear in this list.

Platform notes

Both apps require the complete amount and eligible recipients. The web dialog can be cancelled before saving. Closing a mobile sheet after pressing Assign does not prove the save was cancelled; refresh and check the result. There is no undo or redistribution action in this assignment screen. If an assignment is wrong, contact Tapp support. Changing the automatic sharing rule does not rewrite this assignment.

Market notes

The flow applies in Great Britain and Germany. Enter amounts in the currency shown for the tip. Shares appear in personal reports when assigned, which can be later than the date the tip was collected.

Troubleshooting

If no recipients appear, check their completed setup and eligibility with an Owner. If another manager assigned the tip, or it was changed or refunded, it may no longer be available. Refresh the list after an error before trying again. Do not assume an error means nothing was saved. Assignment requires a connection. Wait for the list to finish loading or refreshing before saving. After a failed or uncertain save, refresh and reopen the tip if it is still unallocated. You may need to enter the shares again; check the recipients and full amount before submitting.
